We’re Not Photo People
I hear this often.
Usually said with a little laugh.
A little hesitation.
Sometimes almost as a warning.
“We’re not really photo people.”
And what they usually mean is:
We feel awkward in front of a camera.
We don’t know how to pose.
Our kids don’t sit still.
Our house isn’t perfect.
I don’t feel my best right now.
But here’s the gentle truth:
You don’t have to be “photo people” to deserve to have your motherhood documented.
You just have to be living it.
The pressure to perform
So many families avoid photos because they picture stiff poses, forced smiles, and every one lines up, trying to behave.
That’s exhausting. Especially in motherhood - where you’re already holding so much. Lifestyle motherhood sessions are intentionally different.
You’re not performing.
You’re not posing.
You’re not trying to be a person of yourself that feels polished.
You’re just being you, with your children.
And I’m quietly documenting what’s already there with a few gentle suggestions to help create that natural connection you already poses.
What it actually looks like
It looks like:
Holding your toddler on your hip.
Brushing hair away from your baby’s face.
Nursing on the couch.
Laughing together.
Reading books on the floor.
Deep breaths between moments.
Your kids don’t need to sit still.
You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.
Your house doesn’t need to look like a magazine.
The beauty is in the movement. The connection. The in-between.
A gentle reminder for moms
One day, your children will want to see you in these years.
Not perfectly dressed.
Not posed.
Not smiling on command.
They will want to see:
How you held them.
How you looked at them.
How your home felt.
How safe they were in your arms.
You are in the center of their story right now.
And you deserve to be in the frame.
If you’re in the Seacoast New Hampshire area and have been waiting for the “right'“ time - this is your reminder that this season is already worthy.
